Digital Eclipse Received $10 Million+ In Crowdfunding For Legacy Remaster Initiative

While new projects and IPs continue to deliver as improved systems ship, less opportunity is given to legacy IP from developers – aside from remake initiatives that is. However, Digital Eclipse continues to stand at the forefront for beloved & nostalgic franchises with its work with publishers to deliver titles from before. Most noted, many can remember the firm’s work on the remake for MediEvil from Guerrilla Cambridge.

Early last year, composer for the remake game did note that a sequel is supposedly on the way through exchanges on Twitter. However, details on the project is left as speculation with no information surfacing since the encounter then. This past summer, Digital Eclipse over on crowdfunding platform Republic launched a campaign for a new initiative to further fuel its endeavor to reinvigorate fan-favorite titles.

At the time, co-founder Mike Mika went to Twitter asking his users what they might believe to be the next project the team should pursue. Upon the ending of the campaign on September 16, Digital Eclipse generated roughly $10.5 million from crowdfunding.

From the Republic page, Digital Eclipse remarks on the campaign exceeding $10 million and shares its venture has already found one publisher to start work with. “We can let you know that Digital Eclipse has signed a license agreement with a very well known IP, and that the size and scope of that project will be similar to the Blizzard Arcade Collection we helped develop for Activision-Blizzard earlier this year.”

Furthermore, the post continues asking its supporters to proceed with more suggestions that they believe needs Digital Eclipse’s attention. As for anticipated projects from the firm already, the team already confirmed to be working on Disney Classic Games Collection: Aladdin, The Lion King, and The Jungle Book. Additionally, #IDARB 2 is also underway according to an announcement from 2019. You can read the full report by heading here.
