In understanding the next-generation push from Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft emphasized the firm’s ambition to further harness its capabilities in HDR support. Already, the firm has shown its eagerness to bring this feature to games from generations before with backwards compatibility. In that, the tool would instantly crank on auto-HDR for most games running on emulated firmware from previous generations.
But looking to the future, the Xbox company wanted to further push that envelope to bring a new and unique experience that only Xbox owners can find. So to do that, Microsoft partnered with Dolby to deliver Dolby Atmos & Dolby Vision to Xbox Series consoles. At launch, the audio package shipped for players to find a more in-depth experience when playing with headphones on.
But in 2021, the enhanced HDR suite is told to ship to all new console owners. But already, some Xbox Insider users are reporting to already find the feature to be available for a selection of games. Speaking with one alpha ring user, Forbes shares that Borderlands 3, Gears 5, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and Wreckfest all support Dolby Vision now.
However, it is uncertain to determine what other games are to receive the feature next or when players can find the update for Dolby Vision coming to the majority later this year. Noted, many users might not even notice the enhancement if not using the corresponding display. Microsoft has announced its officially partnering with LG for this generation’s console, so its latest selection of OLED televisions are what you might want to do the job.
Elsewhere this past week, Microsoft also issued to be delivering the auto-HDR feature to PC as well. Alike Dolby Vision right now, the tool is only available to select users part of the insider program for Windows. You can read the full report by heading here.
