Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Hints At Next-Gen Versions In New Update

When reflecting on the previous releases from Bandai Namco when it comes to the string of Dragon Ball titles, these games are still supported. Although the firm recently rolled out Dragon Ball: The Breakers, it is expected to ship a continuous stream of post-launch support in the future. The same goes for Dragon Ball Z Kakarot which just launched the ‘The 23rd World Tournament’ update for the game earlier in 2023.

One of the pillars of this philosophy is the post-launch campaign for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 which launched back in 2016. Here is our take on the game from the E3 preview we did at the time: “Battle mechanics have also received a great amount of attention with the inclusion of the Homing Dash and Aura Burst Dash. […] From the combat side of things, Ki blasts (a fighter’s bread and butter) can now curve, making it more difficult for players to dodge while also making the attack seem more realistic.”

This week, Bandai Namco shares a proper roadmap for the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 adding new content in the new free update that goes live October 12th. It also hints at next-gen support coming later on in 2024.

The list of new characters includes Frost/Cabba/God of Destruction Champa/ Vados/Rosé Goku Black/Zamasu/Bojack/ SSGSS Vegito/Fused Zamasu/ Majin Buu (Gohan Absorbed)/Dabura/ Android 13/Tapion/Goku (Ultra Instinct)/ Jiren/Android 17 (DB Super)/Fu/ Super Baby 2/Kefla (Super Saiyan)/ Broly (Full Power Super Saiyan)/SSGSS Gogeta.

The overall new update goes on to list a limited-time event ‘Festival of Universes’. Atop of that, new game mode Cross Versus comes to the main game. Awoken Skill Ultra Instinct, avatar level cap unlock is also featured for the update as well. The 2024 roadmap also points towards new scenarios and more playable characters alongside the Xbox Series & PlayStation 5 versions coming.
