Torn Banner Studios made their way to the stage at this year’s PC Gaming Show to reveal that Chivalry 2 will be dropping for PC sometime next year in 2020. The developer also announced that the title will be launching first on the Epic Games Store first as an timed exclusive before the game is available on other storefronts like Steam and GOG.
This time around for the sequel, Torn banner announced that the upcoming hack and slash will be developed with Unreal Engine 4 as the previously Kickstared 2012 title was made with unreal Engine 3. Torn Banner President Steve Piggott on the announcement of the next title in the series:
With Chivalry 2 we want to bring to life the grit and powerful emotions of a cinematic medieval battlefield. Learn to master the blade as you lay siege to castles, set fire to villages and slaughter filthy peasants.
The game is said to include 64-player battles with a more evident visual overhaul, more expansive battlefields, and a responsive combat system. Despite the initial title releasing on both previous and current generations of Xbox & PlayStation, Chivalry 2 currently is only listed for PC at the moment of writing this.
At the same press conference, Ys Net revealed that Shenmue III will also be available to the Epic Games Store which left backers of the title overly frustrated by the decision. How do you feel about the sequel to a Kickstarted title being available first on Epic’s PC retailer?
