From Capcom, it is no secret the number of IP that the publisher sits on – especially now in 2023. And while the team still billboards franchises such as Street Fighter & Resident Evil, it also is creating new properties as well. In early 2022, the firm revealed Exoprimal: a new mechanized-defensive, dinosaur-fighting experience with online gameplay. Originally, fans did hope the game would be a remake of another classic Capcom series.
In that, many viewers during the reveal pieced together one name before the title card: Dino Crisis. However, that was not the case. Even with its Jurassic connection in foes, Capcom does clarify the two franchises are not shared within the same universe. But, do not give up hope just yet. The publisher in a viewer survey last summer did ask if Dino Crisis alongside the long-closed Dead Rising is a franchise you are interested in see returning.
This week, Capcom held a ‘Capcom Spotlight’ presentation on Thursday which showcases some of the new upcoming releases. As part of the feature, Exoprimal took the spotlight including a release date trailer with details on an upcoming open beta later this month. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“The Open Beta Test kicks off on Thursday, March 16 at 5:00pm PDT and the wargames run until Sunday, March 19 at 4:59pm PDT. The Open Beta Test will also feature cross-platform matchmaking, enabling Exofighter squads from one system to compete against teams playing on other platforms,” Capcom public relations manager Kyle Burleson writes.
“As a bonus, we’re also providing all Open Beta Test participants with the opportunity to receive an Aibius Medal charm to decorate your Exosuits when the full game launches this July.” And with a summer release paved for July, Capcom also confirms that Exoprimal is set to release day & date for Xbox Game Pass this summer as well.
