For fans who might not have picked up the trend that Ubisoft has been investing in lately, the company as of late started referencing the Prince of Persia series more than regularly. Noted, the series has not received a mainline entry since the release of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands in 2010, so fans are hungry for a new release. Discarding the mobile title that launched back in 2018, users are still patient for a new game.
Back in February, Ubisoft announced a themed VR escape room dubbed ‘Prince of Persia: Dagger of Time‘ which raised some eyebrows that the publisher would revisit the series after nearly a decade. However, Ubisoft that following month again toyed with the property by dedicating the series to an entire event in For Honor featuring the titular hero in-game.
Now in May, users uncovered yet another reference to the Prince of Persia franchise as fans online found a domain registered by Ubisoft with the title ‘princeofpersia6.com’ earlier today.
Similarly we already witnessed the same scenario with the recently announced Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Prior to the official debut as the key art was still be worked on by BossLogic, GamingRoute unearthed the domain sharing the same name as the game. Even more, the domain again was found on who.is which goes to support the legitimacy of the finding even more.
As for what we can expect is left undetermined for the time being. Especially with how long the franchise has been left untouched for a full-fledged new release, Ubisoft could potentially just be registering the domain as a place holder for a larger project. It was reported back in 2012 that Ubisoft was looking to pursue Project Osiris in anticipation for then next-generation systems, but nothing came to fruition since the initial reporting.
What do you think might develop from this new finding for the registered domain?
