Final Fantasy XVI Gets Steam/Epic Games Store Release For September 17th

For Square Enix, the Japanese publisher in recent times face growing struggles with financial return. In the past, it was reported the firm faced over ¥22 billion in losses from its current business standing. What’s more, its PlayStation arrangements for unique releases is shrinking with plans for more multiplatform endeavors planned for the future.

Part of this push for its titles on more platforms extends to PC certainly. Previously, Square Enix announced a PC version for Final Fantasy XVI is in the pipeline. What’s more, main director Hiroshi Takai disclosed more systems are being entertained following the release on PC. “We would like to make Final Fantasy XVI available to play for as many people as possible, so watch out for that one too,” he shared.

On Monday, Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy XVI is set to launch for both Steam & Epic Games Store next month this September. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:

“FINAL FANTASY XVI is an epic action RPG set in the world of Valisthea – a once glorious land blessed by the light of the mothercrystals, slowly becoming plagued by the Blight. This phenomenon causes lifeless deadlands to spread across the land – and as the land has weakened, so has the relative peace between nations.

“The fate of the land is decided by the Eikons – the most powerful and deadly creatures in Valisthea. Each one resides within a single man or woman who are able to call upon them and wield their power. These people are called Dominants; both revered and feared by the nations of the world,” the overview for the game reads. 

“You play as Clive Rosfield – firstborn son to the Duke of Rosaria, and older brother of Joshua Rosfield – the Dominant of the Phoenix. Clive acts as protector to his powerful but sickly sibling, but his life is changed forever following a sudden attack on his home, and the emergence of a new Eikon: Ifrit. This devastating event sets Clive on a dangerous journey of revenge… one that will change him and Valisthea forever.”
