For any reasonable Splinter Cell fan, it is understanding to say that the series is severely overdue for a new game. And although a new mainline installment has released since 2013’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Ubisoft did confirm a remake for the original game is underway. What’s more, it was also revealed that Ubisoft did scrap a planned virtual reality game for Meta Quest 2 in the past as well.
However, other plans are underway for the IP. Previously, it was reported that Derek Kolstad (John Wick)would be attached to a new animated series for Splinter Cell. And at Netflix Geeked Week in 2021, the anime was announced alongside a Far Cry: Blood Dragon series. Although Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix did arrive in 2023, the same cannot be said for the anticipated Splinter Cell anime.
At Geeked Week 2024, Netflix revealed the first teaser of the upcoming Ubisoft anime – Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“Splinter Cell follows Fisher, a black ops agent working for a US government division called the Fourth Echelon,” the brief synopsis for Splinter Cell: Deathwatch reads from Netflix. The teaser does confirm that Michael Ironside will not voice the goggle-wearing agent. Instead, Liev Schreiber (Scream, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is to portray Sam Fisher.
At the same showcase, Netflix also revealed a new teaser for Devil May Cry. Alongside another glimpse at the upcoming Capcom anime, it also shared an April 2025 release window is slated for the series. You can read the full report by heading here.
