In the recent break of news for Five Nights at Freddy’s series, creator Scott Cawthon announced recently a new add-on for the original series. While the first game welcomes a notable cast of automatronic characters, the games that followed did left a similar impact. So in that, a new DLC ‘Ultimate Custom Night’ allows fans to create their own layouts with the preferred characters and settings.

Additionally, the upcoming AAA release from developer Steel Wool Games ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach’, is scheduled to release later on in 2021. For the magnitude of projects that followed the original game in 2014, this game is to be the most ambitious with the largest budget to date.

However, with the seven year anniversary for the first trailer of the original game, Scott Cawthon announces he will be stepping away from his throne for the series to prioritize his family moving forward. You can view the complete letterhead in the image below:

“Here on the seventh anniversary of the first game’s trailer, as I realize that I was in my mid-30’s when I created the series and now I’m approaching my mid-40’s, I realize that I miss a lot of things that I got to focus on before FNAF became such a success,” Cawthon shares. “I miss making games for my kids, I miss doing it just for fun, and I miss making RPGs even though I stink at it.

“All of this to say that I am retiring. I have been shown tremendous love and support over this last week, a lot of which has come from the LGBTQ community. The kindness shown to me has been surreal. Is this the end of FNAF? No. This just means that someone else will eventually be running the show; someone of my choosing, and someone that I can trust. We will have to wait and see how it all plays out, but an announcement will be made at some point.”

Previously, Cawthon has pledged to be actively involved with upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s projects through fan creation initiative. He even stated to assist financially to make developer’s dreams become a reality for their pursuit. You can read the full report by heading here.
