More than a year ago now, the video game industry was shaken to learn that Reggie Fils-Aime, then standing President for Nintendo of America, would be handing in his resignation to retire from the firm. After more than a decade at the North American division, Fils-Aime would be handing the torch to Doug Bowser who will lead the helm from then on.
What many anticipated at the time of the announcement was that Fils-Aime might make a surprise unveiling in honor of his soon-approaching retirement. In one tweet, fans picked out a glimpse of an unknown character from a gift that was sent by Retro Studios to Fils-Aime. But, the speculation did not manifest into something more.
However, Fils-Aime in a recent tweet does break reality, in some cases, to his massive following. In a surprising post made on Thursday, Fils-Aime shared that he owns a copy of Mother 3 in English and is stumped as to why he has yet to play the version of the 2006 Game Boy Color title.
But as you might presume, Fils-Aime is only fueling the fire to the prolonged demand for an English translation to the game. The former corporate President is prolific for receiving questions as to the port to the west, but nothing ever materialized for its fans – even after the 10th anniversary back in 2016. And, the chances to see news for the possibility in 2021 as the 15th anniversary is next week is just as much.
In relevance to Fils-Aime as of late, it was reported in March that he will be stepping down from his position on the Board of Directors for corporate GameStop. After his departure from Nintendo of America, he revealed to be joining GameStop in anticipation to resolve the turmoil of the retail brand. You can read the full report by heading here.
Did you hope the Mother 3 tweet was real?
