Although the long-awaited third installment for Gearbox Software’s Borderlands series has arrived back in September, you shouldn’t forget that the team has more planned for the game regarding post-launch aside from the slate of endgame content already available currently. In fact, it was disclosed before the game’s release that the project would receive about four story-related expansions following its September launch.
Just last week, Gearbox has revealed the first of four, this being the Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot. If you were unable to decipher the apparent play-on-words in the expansion’s title, this new content experience drags the new cast of vault hunters to the formerly-run casino manned by Borderlands 2 antagonist Handsome Jack.
You can watch the reveal trailer below:
Following the orders behind titular Moxxi, you must break into Handsome Jack’s casino and overtake the establishment. Along the way, you will face a new roster of enemies including the very suiting hostile slot machines that you witness in the reveal trailer. Among other hurdles propped for players to take on, there will of course be new weapons, locations, and looks for you to comb through upon playing.
Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot is scheduled to arrive on December 19th.
Among other post-launch add-ons, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford did press upon the matter of cross-play inevitably coming to Borderlands 3 following the game’s launch at some point. “We are committed to supporting cross-play for Borderlands 3 with our partners as soon as practicable after launch,” Pitchford stated back in July.
