Sucker Punch made a surprise appearance to top off the latest State of Play presentation that featured announcements on current games and what will come in the future. It has been a long wait for a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima and today, Sucker Punch revealed Ghost of Yōtei.

Ghost of Yōtei introduces a new hero, Atsu whose journey takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. The story is set in the lands surrounding Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan known as Hokkaido in the present day.

This is the first game that Sucker Punch built from the ground up for PlayStation 5 and the visuals are expected to be better than ever. The developer says this new setting gives them the chance to introduce new mechanics, gameplay improvements, and new weapons.

Ghost of Yōtei is planned to release in 2025 exclusively on PlayStation 5.
