Roughly a year ago, The Evil Within developer Tango Gameworks broke its silence with the release of Ghostwire: Tokyo. From our review at the time: “The open-world and combat variety don’t hold up by the end mark. Tokyo and its many stories and secrets are incredible to experience, especially the first time through. I just wish Akito’s journey had more agency as a protagonist.”

Additionally, the Japanese developer more recently grew in popularity with the surprise release of Hi-Fi Rush this past January. So much so recording more than 2 million players for the game since its launch. However, leadership is beginning to change shape as founder Shinji Mikami is set to leave the game studio later on in 2023, a statement from Bethesda confirms.

Before then, Ghostwire Tokyo is set to ship for Xbox consoles. A previous promo told the exclusivity for console on PlayStation is to last a full year. On Wednesday, Bethesda & Tango Gameworks announced Ghostwire: Tokyo is to ship next month for Xbox and Xbox Game Pass this April. You can watch the announcement trailer below:

“In a flash, nearly every living human in Tokyo disappears as a menacing fog creeps in. As Akito, a lone survivor of this supernatural catastrophe, it’s up to you to team up with an unlikely ally: the spirit of a detective known only as “KK.” With the power to combat the otherworldly Visitors taking over the city, it’s up to just you two to save the world of the living in Ghostwire: Tokyo, coming soon to Xbox!” Bethesda Softworks content manager Parker Wilhelm writes.

“Take on the Spider’s Thread mode and test your skills as well as play new quests in the main game, capture a souvenir with an enhanced Photo Mode, explore the all-new Middle School area, pull out new combat moves like the Quick Dodge or Charge Rush attack, and so much more! With the Spider’s Thread update, players will get to have the definitive Ghostwire: Tokyo experience,” The update description reveals.
