Rockstar Games announced today that Grand Theft Auto 6 will now be releasing on May 26, 2026. Earlier this year, Take-Two Interactive was confident the game would release in Fall 2025, and many fans still didn’t believe that timeframe.
Here is the statement Rockstar Games shared:
Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026.
We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.
With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.
We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.
GTA 6 was first revealed in December 2024 with its reveal trailer that set records for views. It was reported that many publishers have been waiting to see when GTA 6 may release so they could plan their game around that date, or if they needed to delay their game.
It was reported in February that a Corsair Gaming executive shared that GTA 6 would be coming to PC in early 2026. Now that the delay has been made official for May 26, 2026, it’s possible we see Grand Theft Auto VI release on PC alongside Xbox and PS5.
There have also been expectations from analysts that Grand Theft Auto 6 could cost at least $100. With Mario Kart World potentially having an impact on the highly anticipated game’s price.
As of now, GTA 6 is planned to release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on May 26, 2026.
