Handful Of PlayStation 3 Titles Are Having Their Servers Shutdown

For those who look back at some of their favorite titles from the last generation of consoles, it’s always fun returning to soak in the nostalgia as it comes back to you. Especially when there’s multiplayer, you and friends enjoy what your favorite past time was years before. Unfortunately for those who look towards some first-party titles on the PlayStation 3 have slowly been getting their online servers turned off and more titles will be added to the list.

In a post on ResetEra, user Smash-It Stan in their thread revealed that Twisted Metal, Warhawk, and PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale will have their multiplayer servers shutdown on October 25th. Meaning any online features for the listed titles will be unavailable for fans to access after the shutdown date. Especially for Incognito Entertainment’s title taking this the hardest, as Warhawk is a strictly online-only game.

The details on the new information was pulled from each of the game’s respected store pages. This should also be mentioned that PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale for the PlayStation Vita will also be losing its online features too.

This isn’t the first time exclusive titles have got their multiplayer servers shutdown on PlayStation 3. Previously Killzone 2 and Killzone 3, both from Guerilla Games had their all online features turned off indefinitely.

With the saddening news for fans on Sony’s console, this won’t be the last time seeing this for other titles on the platform. As Xbox One implemented backwards compatibility for fans to return to Xbox 360 titles, this gives the games an extended lifespan for their multiplayer lobbies. Though Sony recently took its first step into crossplay with Fortnite to play alongside Microsoft’s console, this might be a opportunity to bring to more players to their growing platform.
