Studio head Josef Fares, while notorious for his outlandishly hilarious monologue about his disagreement for the Oscars in favor for The Game Awards back in 2017, is more notable for his work on the game that was showcased during the same show, A Way Out. The game released that following March and was reported to have exceeded a million copies in its first two weeks of release.

Since then, word on the net project form the studio has been radio silent for the most part. That was until this past E3 in 2019 where Fares returned to disclose “a completely new title” is underway at Hazelight. The announcement was made as part of a montage for the EA Originals initiative for the publisher’s ambitions to back smaller studios with unique projects.

Now today, Fares on Twitter went to share in a post that the unnamed project he has primed for fans will be unveiled later this week during the EA Play Live event.

In the tweet, Fares only spares detail that the announcement will be a brief look at the new title; “a short tease,” he writes. But any hints as to what this new project will be is still left for fans to wait in anticipation until this coming Thursday. However, Fares did spare some context for the new title during his initial reveal last year.

In the video, Fares explained that Hazelight will be returning with a yet another cooperative journey for players and a friend to embark on. With that, it could be speculated that a new entry for the A Way Out universe is in development: Fares could be gaslighting the new game in anticipation for the next-generation of consoles. Or perhaps the new title will be a unique experience to the team 2018-shipped game.

In recent news, Electronic Arts in support of the current protests against racial injustice in the United States postponed EA Play to this week. The firm moved the online show to clear the airways for more important voices to be heard. You can read the updated post by heading here.

Did you plan on tuning in for Hazelight’s new game?

EA Play Live will be taking place on Thursday June 18, 2020 at 4PM PST / 7 PM EST.
