
While much of the upcoming Uncharted movie did not truly develop for nearly a decade, plans for HBO’s The Last of Us is coming along swimmingly. In that, there is already a decided cast for the starring duo of the titular video game series. Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) is to play Ellie as Pedro Pascal (The Madalorian) is to star as her protector, Joel.
Additionally, Executive Producer Neil Druckmann also pressed on the basis of the story for the television series. That majority of it is to be based on the original 2013 game, but some episodes deviate toward new experiences. “Sometimes they deviate greatly to much better effect because we are dealing with a different medium,” Druckmann discuses.
However, news on the approaching show is still developing as new additions to the cast are still anticipated to be made. In a recent report from Deadline, it is revealed that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Gabriel Luna is to star in the production as well. More so, the publication reports that Luna will portraying Tommy, the younger brother to Joel in the video game.
In his prior work, Luna is most recognized for his role of Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider in Fox’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alongside starring as Gabriel/REV-9 in 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate. Dateline goes on to remark that The Last of Us will be the return of Luna to the network since his work on the second season of True Detective back in 2015.
Most recently, it was reported that filming for the namely HBO series is to kick off this summer. Production for the PlayStation Pictures endeavor is to begin in July in Calgary, Canada and is projected to continue well until June 2022 the following year.
