When engaging in the extended universe that is Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank, the IP was revisited just last year. With the new PlayStation 5 already out, the developer rolled ahead with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. From our review, “The latest sequel feels like they really wanted to improve on the problems people had with the older titles. The combat system wasn’t completely remade from scratch but instead feels like an evolution of prior titles.
“Here, you’ll find brisk, responsive real-time combat that has you doing jumps, dodges and weapon management in between bouts of melee and ranged combat. […] Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is Insomniac creating a game that captures the full potential of the series and delivers an absolute stunner of an experience.” A year later, the team is celebrating two decades since the inception of the franchise.
