It has been more than two months since the announcement of Bloober Team’s coming supernatural thriller, The Medium. In that, the Polish studio while sparing a very revealing cinematic trailer did not include what the game will directly look like or spare any gameplay details regarding th core plot of the coming Xbox Series X exclusive title.

However, just less than a day before the commencement of today’s Xbox Games Showcase taking place later this afternoon, a listing for the game has appeared on the Microsoft Store which might answer some questions for interested fans. Skimming over the game’s respected page, you will find three separate screenshots for the game rendered in-engine on both PC and Xbox.

Offering different scenarios, the biggest takeaway is that the game will be controlled through two different scenarios simultaneously: one in reality while the other is in the warped world mimicking the real-time. Essentially posed as single player splitscreen, it is surely a unique take even for Bloober Team since the team’s repertoire consists of first-person experiences.

“Wield unique psychic abilities reserved for those with the gift. Travel between the realities or explore them both at the very same time,” the description reads on the game’s page. Use the Out of Body experience to investigate places where your real-world self can’t go. Create energy shields and deliver powerful spirit blasts to survive the spirit world and its otherworldly dangers.”

Delving deeper into the game’s description, you will learn that this new approach to gameplay will also evolve as players will have to take control of both situations to complete certain challenges and solve puzzles that lie ahead, the overview shares. “Explore the physical world and the spirit world simultaneously, and use the interactions between them to solve dual-reality puzzles, unlock new paths, and awaken memories of past events.”

Earlier this month, Bloober Team offered some insight on its decision to create a unique title exclusive to Xbox Series X. Ultimately, the studio disclosed that the reasoning for doing so was to reach the expectations initially aimed for the project which it could not achieve on current-generation hardware.
