LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet 3, LittleBigPlanet (PS Vita) Shuts Down Online Services

For fans of the PlayStation 3, it is easily noticeable that Sony Interactive Entertainment is ready to move on from the 2006-released system and severe ties to the console with the proprietary PlayStation 5 now the current platform. More than two generations ahead now, the firm earlier in 2021 attempted to remove the online stores for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation Vita.

But instead enough outcry from its userbase resulted with Sony Interactive Entertainment retracting the initial decision: ultimately the PlayStation Portable met its demise being the older of the three devices. Additionally, a slew of PlayStation 3 titles with online multiplayer faced the internet component to be stripped from the experience.

To add on to that, the official LittleBigPlanet Twitter account announced this week that LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet 3, LittleBigPlanet (PS Vita) is relinquishing its online services now. However, user-created content for LittleBigPlanet on PlayStation 4 has been restored!

“Good news is that we have just launched Game Update 1.27 and brought LittleBigPlanet server (and all 10,000,000+ Community Levels!!) back online for PlayStation 4 users,” the letterhead shares. “Unfortunately, we need to permanently shutdown our online services for: LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS3), and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita.”

The number of closing game servers does also extend to other prolific titles outside of Sony Interactive Entertainment. Previously, Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto V’s GTA Online is to be relinquished later this fall. You can read the full report by heading here.
