Respectively, both PlayStation & Nintendo being big players in the industry has tackled portable gaming. Releases like the PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo Switch, it is obvious the firms returned with massive success in that sector. But from Microsoft, the platform holder has never tackled that front for its video game division. But, that does not mean the firm is interested to make an advancement.
Already, we see efforts with Xbox Cloud Gaming on Android & iOS. Even more, the same can be said with Valve’s Steam Deck which can run Windows OS on the device to enable to service. But, what about a native device? Well, Microsoft & Logitech has officially revealed the firm proper effort from the Xbox company to do so.
No, it is not entirely an Xbox portable, but it is a native device that comes with Xbox Cloud Gaming ready right out of the box. Its the Logitech G CLOUD Gaming Handheld. You can watch the showcase trailer in the video below:
“We’re announcing that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be available in more places with the Logitech G CLOUD Gaming Handheld when it launches in North America on October 17. Soon you’ll be able to play Grounded and Sea of Thieves, or discover your next favorite game, right in the palm of your hands using the power of the cloud on an all-new device,” Microsoft Vice President of Xbox Cloud Gaming Catherine Gluckstein writes.
“Handhelds are a natural next step in our cloud gaming evolution, and it’s great to see a world-class hardware leader like Logitech optimize Xbox Cloud Gaming for their new device. You can jump right in with ease, anywhere you are, and take advantage of the 16:9 full-screen display. With extended battery life, built-in Wi-Fi, and ergonomic controls, the Logitech G CLOUD will allow you to progress through campaigns or get online for a multiplayer session where it’s most convenient to you.”
Earlier this summer, Microsoft revealed its efforts to establish its roots in cloud gaming. In that, the firm officially announced a new project involving Kojima Productions to create a unique IP exclusive to Xbox Cloud Gaming. The effort follows the previous opening of a new publishing brand for xCloud specifically with former Valve developer Kim Swift.
Additionally, Microsoft is spending heavily into the mobile market. The firm voiced this ambition when Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer explained one large benefit of the $70 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard is the already-established mobile gaming venture it has.
