Although Mario Kart 8 is close to turning ten years-old within the coming year, Nintendo has yet to pardon its most popular release across both the Wii U & Nintendo Switch. Over a year ago, Nintendo announced a new six-wave ‘Booster Pass’ for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which will offer a slew of new content from older releases alongside new additions as well. Not to mention this will be bundled for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members as well.
So far Nintendo has shipped Wave 1, Wave 2, and Wave 3 over the past year. And that is only the first half. At the most recent Nintendo Direct held in February, Nintendo revealed a new map ‘Yoshi’s Island’ is coming to the game. Not to mention fan-favorite character Birdo is to also be appearing in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as well.
In celebrating the upcoming Mar10 holiday next week, Wave 4 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Pass is arriving next Thursday. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:
“The next eight courses that are part of Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass DLC** are coming to the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game on March 9. The newly added Fruit Cup and Boomerang Cups are composed of Tour Amsterdam Drift, GBA Riverside Park, Wii DK Summit, Yoshi’s Island (which is making its Mario Kart debut!), Tour Bangkok Rush, DS Mario Circuit, GCN Waluigi Stadium and Tour Singapore Speedway. A new playable character, Birdo, will also be added to the game in this wave of the DLC,” the overview reads from the press release.
More on the matter of the popularity surrounding Mario Kart 8, it is reported the game stands to be the most-successful racing title in North America. The information was revealed in a post by NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella sharing the continued success of the game across two generations ranks the game as such.
