Upon representing the Nintendo Switch platform, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe stands to be the most popular game on the platform. Although fans amongst one another are vocal on upcoming releases namely, the 2014 remaster of the titular Wii U game stands at over 42 million sales as it only stands a few million ahead of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

In a previous report from NPD Group, it was revealed that the overall IP has more influence than many would anticipated. The announcement shared that Mario Kart 8 is the most sold title in the racing genre in history. Looking ahead, a ninth game is anticipated to come with the last being more than a handful of years old. Even more, one industry analyst suggest that to be coming later on in 2022.

From the Wednesday Nintendo Direct, the firm reveals its plans to include a new DLC pass to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which includes a plentiful addition of maps from legacy releases for $24.99 You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

Throughout 2022 and 2023, there will be six waves of content drops, each having eight courses. So, using the power of math, that means that 48 additional courses are planned to release by the end of 2023! You’ll be able to play these courses both locally and online,” Nintendo explains. While a full roster is not included, the firm shares Coconut Mall, Choco Mountain, and Tokyo Blur are all part of the project.

Additionally, the new add-on plans for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is to be include with two options in mind: one being the ability to purchase the DLC through conventional methods. The second would be to obtain it in the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass bundle. However, it is noted in a previous report not paying for the service will strip you of bundled content.
