A massive leak from the Microsoft v. FTC case has come out revealing Microsoft’s future console plans such as the Xbox Series X and S mid-gen refresh bringing a disc-less Series X in November 2024 along with a brand new controller. The next generation of Xbox has also been leaked with a planned release window of 2028.
The next generation console for Microsoft will be a “Cloud Hybrid” console featuring Cloud-to-Edge architecture across Silicon, Graphics, and OS enabling ubiquitous play. The console will potentially feature Next Gen DirectX Raytracing, Dynamic Global Illumination, Micropolygon Rendering Optimizations, ML Based Super Resolution, Extensibility Model for Faster Iteration and Innovation.
Microsoft seems to be big on AI with this next console as they talk about “AI Game Testing” in the image shown above and talk about Game Performance having Super Resolution Deep Neural Network, Frame Rate Interpolation, and xCloud Latency Compensation.
The Key Technological Enablers for this new console include AI and ML Enablement, Cohesive Hybrid Compute, and Creator Platform.
The next generation of Xbox is still years away, but there’s no doubt Microsoft is planning for the future and it’s possible we see The Elder Scrolls VI by 2028 as it won’t be released until 2026 at the earliest.
In the image above you’ll see it shows the lineup of Xbox consoles over the years including the NEXT GEN which is listed as a 2028 release.
