Microsoft Flight Simulator Celebrates 15 Million Players Since Its Release

Although releasing back in 2020, Microsoft Flight Simulator has continued to evolve with ongoing post-launch support from Asobo Studio. Many of the glowing additions to the core game include world updates that feature enhancements to the real-time world simulated in-game. The most recent example of this is World Update XVI which focuses in on the Caribbean Islands being the focal point.

Additionally, Asobo Studio also features collaborative add-ons as well. We’ve seen this with the box office release for Top Gun Maverick previously when adding the F/A-18E Super Hornet as well as the iconic Pelican from the Halo series too. In February, the developer did this again adding the Ornithopters to Microsoft Flight Simulator for the release of Dune Part II.

As part of a culmination of all these attributes, Asobo Studio celebrates a new milestone for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Recently, it announced on X that the new game entered the 15 million club with players across all platforms taking to the skies. Of course, this is an ongoing trend with plenty of Xbox Game Studios titles like Forza Horizon 5 and Grounded in the past.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate 15 million pilots who have taken flight with us in Microsoft Flight Simulator!” the developer shares in a post on X. “Thanks to each and every one of you for filling the skies with your adventures! Blue skies and tailwinds.” This leaves the game on a good trajectory with the anticipated new title releasing later this fall.

From the Xbox Games Showcase in June, Xbox Game Studios revealed that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is set to release on November 19th. The new title includes more vehicles – both sky & land – as well as roles to better simulate experiences in-game. You can read the full report by heading here.
