Back in 2023, Microsoft did things differently with the airing of its first Developer_Direct: a new presentation format which emphasizes on select titles with attention from the team responsible. And now entering 2024, roughly a year after the first showcase, reports surfaced that a second presentation is set to come later this month. It was said the third week of January will face the next Developer_Direct.
Additionally, it also marks the first year since the surprise launch of Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush. In that, it is reported the game is being prepared to release on Nintendo Switch sometime in Q1 2024. Furthermore, new rumors going on to suggest Microsoft is considering opening its exclusive library to PlayStation as well with Sea of Thieves potentially on the way as well.
In a new announcement on Tuesday, Microsoft reveals its 2024 Developer_Direct is set to air on January 18th. It is to feature Avowed, AVA: History Untold, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, and Machinegames’ Indiana Jones.
Presented by the game creators themselves, Developer_Direct offers an in-depth look at upcoming titles, how they’re being created, and who’s creating them. We’ll visit MachineGames in Sweden to check in on their Indiana Jones game, swing by Obsidian’s Irvine offices to see more from Avowed, head to Oxide Games’ Maryland home to learn about Ara: History Untold, and take a trip to Cambridge, England to see Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II from Ninja Theory.

Microsoft does address that there will be no update on its recent win in the courts on the Activision Blizzard King deal last year. “Please note that while this show won’t have updates on games from Activision Blizzard, you can look forward to news from those teams later this year.” Previously, it was confirmed that 2024 will share new information on the $70 billion deal, just not yet.
The game to catch the most attention is Indiana Jones surely. Announced back in 2020, Wolfenstein developer MachineGames has remained radio silent on the project. It was recently reported that the team just opened a second studio in Poland. You can read the full report by heading here.
