A string of events for Minecraft has continued to evolve the now decade plus old title. After years of the game supporting mods on PC, the same is now on console – sort of. Via Minecraft Marketplace ‘add-ons’, users even on console can install user-created content. And to add to the discussion of the marketplace, there is a subscription now as well. The ‘Minecraft Marketplace Pass’ arrived in March offering a bevy of in-game packs for only $3.99 a month.

Additionally, the next-generation consoles are on the verge of a welcoming new enhancements. Previously, it was reported that Xbox Series X is to face a 4K update for the game. Similarly in a new development more recently, a PlayStation 5 native version of Minecraft is also said to be in development internally at Mojang Studios too.

Now on April Fool’s Day, Mojang Studios is here with its newest gag. Unlike the previous holidays with the themed screensavers, a new update is available for free on the Minecraft Marketplace. The ‘Poisonous Potato Update’ has emerged with a detailed trailer on some of the featured content. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

“For years, Minecraft’s own toxic tuber has been neglected and underappreciated, lacking both purpose and usefulness. For years, you – the community – tried to highlight this, working tirelessly to bring it to our attention and literally begging us for more functionality. As of today, your concerns are a thing of the past,” the blog post reads.

“Mojang Studios is proud to release our most well-boiled update to date that will add so much usability to the poisonous potato that even tater-haters will become devoted spud-buds. The Poisonous Potato Update – rich in both carbs AND features! You asked. We delivered. Or maybe you didn’t ask, but we delivered anyway? In any case, it is HERE!”

What has you most excited for the Poisonous Potato Update?

Minecraft is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
