Minecraft Movie To Hit Theaters In April 2025

Mojang Studios’ Minecraft more than a decade after the initial release of the world phenomenon is still on high heat in terms of what is on the way for the series. This month, Minecraft Legends plans to roll out bringing a new cooperative defense title to all major systems. Additionally, the Swedish developer also revealed the new ‘Tales & Trails’ Update is on the way for the main game which includes archeology, bamboo crafting, and camels.

But exploring beyond the video games, Hollywood is slowly piecing together a film adaptation for the title. Previously, it was reported that Jason Mamoa (Aquaman, Dune) is to lead for the upcoming motion picture alongside Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess to helm the new film as well. Now a new update has been released on the upcoming picture.

It was revealed that Warner Bros. plans to release the film on April 4th in 2025. The report also mentions the other Jason Mamoa-starred flick Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to be releasing in theaters on December 20th later this winter as well as The Color Purple to hit the box office on Christmas Day.

From Variety, it is reaffirmed the upcoming Minecraft film will be a live-action adaptation of the Mojang Studios title and will feature Roy Lee (The Lego Batman Movie, Godzilla vs Kong), Jill Sobel Messick (Mean Girls, Baby Mama), and Mary Parent (Pacific Rim, Dune) to produce. Both Mojang Studios chief storyteller Lydia Winters & chief media officer Vu Biu will also be attached to produce as well.

In other recent Minecraft news, it was revealed that Mojang Studios & Croc has collaborated to develop Minecraft-themed Croc apparel. The announcement revealed a couple specialized Croc footwear decorated with familiar patterns and iconic buttons. You can read the full report by heading here.
