In the reign of entertainment that Mortal Kombat has evolved into, film is one many fans anticipated to be more prevalent. While films in the 1990s were a thing, the latest 2021 release brought this to a prominent position leaving fans and unfamiliar viewers excited. It was later discovered the picture was the most-viewed release on HBO Max that year.
Additionally, the series also dived into animated productions as well. In 2020, there was Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge. Then the year following, a sequel dubbed ‘Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle for the Realms‘ also came from Warner Bros. Animation. So of course, it was likely a third release would arrive sometime in the coming year.

Previously, Warner Bros. Animation collaborated with Netherrealm Studios on another of its fighting game IPs, Injustice.
