Stepping back a few months to this past August, users on ResetEra shared to have stumbled on a new, unannounced listing for a coming release from Electronic Arts. That being for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, the finding in particular disclosed the game would be a remaster of the 2010 title with mentions of Xbox One and Nintendo Switch being included in the new version.
It is expected that PlayStation 4 and PC owners would also expect versions as well, but that would be saved for when the announcement is made later on. This weekend, publisher Electronic Arts posted a countdown for a new announcement that would be taking place that coming Monday. Already speculated to be the remaster following the finding this summer, fans prepared for their return to the new title.
Now in a new live-action trailer, Criterion Games reiterates on the 5:10 record for the notorious event in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Hotting Up. You can watch the trailer in full in the video below:
“Unleash a savage sense of speed both as an outlaw and a cop in this timeless racing experience updated for today’s platforms,” the synopsis reads from the trailer’s description. “With cross-platform multiplayer and Autolog, enhanced visuals, all main DLC delivered at launch, and much more, this is the ultimate version of Criterion Games’ critically acclaimed Need for Speed debut.”
Derived from the hints in the trailer shared, yes, there will be cross-platform play for the reworking of the fan-favorite 2010 racer. In addition, and as expected, all DLC that shipped following the title’s release will be included in the remaster. Also, Hot Pursuit Remastered will mark the official return for Criterion Games to Need for Speed after Ghost Games hands the helm to the studio.
