Although streaming platform Netflix is most noted for its endless library of entertainment in television shows, movies, alongside original content, the firm is still in search for new avenues to invest its revenue. With that, reports began to surface on the company scouting for candidates within the video game industry to helm a new gaming division that is sprouting up internally.
It was not until this past summer where Netflix officially announced it is pursuing video games for the monthly service. At the time, it told it will be striving to create a new perk feature for subscribers to offer a library of games that will be included at no additional cost. The company did not press if it will also aim to create unique titles for its new ambition similar to how there is with its shows & movies already on the service.
From TechCrunch, Netflix is slowly rolling out mobile games and other titles to select regions in Europe. So far, it is offering a selection of games to Poland, Italy, and Spain Netflix owners. In total, there are five games – at least including Strangers Things: 1984 & Stranger Things 3 for Poland users. On the Android app for all regions, Shooting Hoops, Teeter Up and Card Blast are available to install.
TechCrunch goes on to note that Netflix is also breaking expectations with this new mobile pursuit as the aforementioned games does not include pop-up advertisements or in-app purchases when launching from the Google Play Store as well. The mentioned Stranger Things titles are said to arrive to the latter Italy & Spain versions later on.
In the past, we witnessed services test sample over in the same region from Sony Interactive Entertainment. With the soft launch of PlayStation Plus Video Pass in Poland, the PlayStation company tests the waters with Sony-produced films and shows for the service at no extra cost.
