For roughly a decade, the Dying Light series faced continuous support in its post-launch campaign. And while only a couple of paid expansions came to the full game, developer Techland handed over countless free updates that rolled out for the 2015 title. And moving onto Dying Light 2, the same can be expected.
So far, the Polish game studio delivered the first DLC ‘Blood Ties’ which shipped back in 2022. However, it appears more is planned for the greater Dying Light universe. From a recent trademark filing, it reveals that Techland is working on a new project – Dying Light: The Beast. From what is revealed, it seems this trademark is a new game.
At Gamescom Opening Night Live, Techland unveiled Dying Light: The Beast. It’s a new standalone release starring original Dying Light protagonist Kyle Crane. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
“You are Kyle Crane, the man whose selflessness during the initial virus outbreak saved many from a fate worse than death. After more than a decade in captivity, you find yourself in a world that’s changed, and not for the better. Now, you’ll need to use the survival skills that kept you alive all those years ago to save even more innocent lives,” the press release shares.
What’s more, original voice actor Roger Craig Smith returns to reprise his role as the character once again. “Stepping back into Kyle Crane’s shoes feels like a reunion with an old friend. And even though he’s gone through a terrible time, there’s still plenty of legendary hero left in him,” Smith shared in a statement. Techland also states that Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition owners will receive this new game for free.
How excited are you for Dying Light: The Beast?
Dying Light: The Beast is listed for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
