
For developer Niantic, the team’s most namely project from the company is Pokémon Go. Since 2016, the game has evolved into one of the most definitive experiences for Pokémon fans and newcomers all around with the game’s simplistic formula on mobile devices. Top that with a layer of augmented reality, and Niantic stands to be one of the most prolific establishments on mobile storefronts.
Outside of the endeavor with Nintendo, Niantic has also established some standing with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, In that, the developer issued a similar release for the Harry Potter universe, Wizards Unite. In similar structure to Pokémon Go, players choose a house and traverse to fight the monsters unique to the J.K. Rowling world.
Now in a new announcement on Monday, Niantic and Nintendo are collaborating once more to introduce a new way for players to experience Pikmin.
Niantic’s AR technology has made it possible for us to experience the world as if Pikmin are secretly living all around us. Based on the theme of making walking fun, our mission is to provide people a new experience that’s different from traditional games. We hope that the Pikmin and this app will become a partner in your life.

In the past, other namely Japanese properties extended its reach to AR mobile games like Dragon Quest. While outside of Niantic’s operation, Dragon Quest Walk only happened to release in Japan as talks about a west launch has yet to be introduced to its global users.
