Nintendo America Head Denies N64 Classic On The Way

It was previously discovered that an N64 Classic console was possibly in the works when a trademark for the console was found. But in a recent interview, Reggie Fils-Aime told Kotaku that there is no plans for the rumored console.

The videogame outlet discussed the approaching lineup this Holiday with the Nintendo America CEO when the question spawned about the possible classic hardware releasing around the same time. Once asked, Fils-Aime responded with:

“I would not ever rule something out, but what I can tell you is certainly that’s not in our planning horizon.”

On top of the conversation, Fils-Aime brought up the current status for retro titles coming to the Switch. Telling Kotaku that the Nintendo plans to expand on the NES category via the Nintendo Online Service before the company brings more titles from other consoles to their latest platform.

The Nintendo America boss also followed up on the plans for the upcoming DLC characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Stating that “there will be no fan polls” for the five unannounced characters coming during post-launch. Previously Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai also mentioned about fans overdoing character suggestions for the December released title, making it apparent that fans need to calm down and “refrain from flooding” Nintendo’s social medias.
