The Nintendo Switch Service debuted just over 9 months ago with many looking ahead for what the subscription service has to offer in the long run. With the initial promotion offering an exclusive library of NES titles for those who pay their way in, users are waiting for what’s next under Nintendo sleeve.

According to a Q&A involving the investors at Nintendo, it seems that the Japanese company is currently looking at ways to expand the service that we have presently. Twitter user @Cheesemeister3k was gracious enough to translate the questions and answers which were posted by @NStyle via Twitter.

One question pressed the topic of nostalgic platforms, mainly the N64 and GameCube, asking for what Nintendo has planned to reintroduce the consoles to the current generation for those who played when said hardware originally dropped. Nintendo shyly avoided the question by sharing that the company is open to going in different directions towards offering the Online Service available on the Switch.

As for the overall push for subscription-based services, Nintendo is aware that the company is falling behind compared to competing Microsoft and Sony for their platforms: sharing that the initiative for new content is currently in the works also on top of the NES collection. “We’re delivering NES games for the Switch. We’ll need to keep expanding,” Nintendo answers “For each type of content, we will expand while thinking about what titles are appropriate for the subscription.”

Earlier this year, dataminers discovered that traces of the succeeding SNES console was discover in the NES app on the Switch. Looking that Nintendo plans to eventually introduce a new platform of titles to the Switch Online Service, but when the time is right for the company.

As Nintendo is known to hop onto the nostalgia train the first seeing the launch of the NES & SNES miniature consoles as well as the current subscription on their latest platform, it’s questionable why the company isn’t eager to act the same for the said service. Possibly to utilize alongside the coming new, unnamed hardware? Only time will tell.
