Nintendo Switch 2 to have 20 million units ready to sell in its first year

Nintendo unveiled its next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2 to the world on Thursday, January 16th. The official reveal finally happened after months of rumors and leaks surrounding all aspects of the console. There will be a chance to get hands-on with the Switch 2 starting in April worldwide including in New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles for North America.

While the Nintendo Switch 1 is chasing history by beating the PlayStation 2 with 160 million units sold, the Switch 2 may have a hot start. It has been reported by Bloomberg that Nintendo has prepared a supply chain network that will allow it to sell over 20 million units of the Nintendo Switch 2 in its first year.

There won’t have to be any worries about scalpers this time around with the Nintendo Switch 2 whenever pre-orders go live. At least from reports, Nintendo looks to be prepared more than ever before when it comes time to release its new console.

Pre-orders are not live for the Switch 2 yet nor has a release date been revealed. The official Nintendo Switch 2 Direct will be going live on April 2, 2024. The time for the presentation has not been announced yet.
