The wave of new information that came out from the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct feels endless with what was uncovered by the end of the hour-long showcase. Ultimately, it was revealed that the console will launch this June with a price tag of $449.99. And, your games will be playable. Even more, select titles will be eligible for an ‘upgrade kit’ as well enhancing the experience for Nintendo Switch 2.
As for the games there were announced, the biggest one at the start of the presentation was Mario Kart World. No more are tracks restricting as there is now an open-world landscape to drive across multiple terrains. And, there is also the newly anticipated, Bloodborne-successor, The Duskbloods by FromSoftware launching later in 2026 also.
During the deep dive into the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo showcased a demonstration experience to learn about the Nintendo Switch 2’s capabilities. Similar to Astro’s Playroom, you will experience an interactive rundown about the hardware. You can watch the segment of the direct in the video below:
“While it’s understandable that players will want to hit the ground running (or racing) with Nintendo Switch 2, they can also explore a variety of features and details the new system has to offer. Players can enter a virtual exhibition with Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour and gain insights into what makes Nintendo Switch 2 such a unique gaming experience,“ the press release reveals.
“Through tech demos, minigames and other interactions, players will get to know the new system inside and out in ways they may never have known about otherwise.” What is different to the demo available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo did confirm that this experience will be available for purchase and not bundled with the console at release this June.
