Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass Welcomes Five New Sega Genesis Games To Its Library This Week

For the Nintendo Switch Online service, the subscription has not received a major update of new games since this summer. Reflecting back to July of this year, we witnessed three titles for Super Nintendo Entertainment System being added: Bombuzal, Claymates, and Jelly Boy. But since the reveal of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass, there has yet to be a major lineup for the current roster of Nintendo 64 or Sega Genesis yet.

So far, Nintendo this month confirmed that Nintendo 64 will be receiving a new game and it already arrived. Paper Mario 64 was added in all of its glory to the new service tier. Additionally, January already has another addition slated with Rare’s Banjo-Kazooie later on sometime at the start of 2022. But, this week includes more titles.

For the Sega Genesis side of things for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass, there are four new titles coming to the service. Those games include the following:

Altered Beast
Dynamite Headdy
Sword of Vermilion
Thunder Force II
ToeJam & Earl 

Noted, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass not too long before also opened new opportunity for pre-existing games on Nintendo Switch as well. Recently, Nintendo patched in support for the wireless Nintendo 64 controller for Super Mario 64’s rendition in Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

Looking ahead, claims that were correct about Nintendo 64 virtual libraries also corroborated on more platforms planned for Nintendo Switch Online.
