For fans that are following CD Projekt Red’s campaign in efforts to officially release the highly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077, the wait has been a rollercoaster. Following the game’s announcement dating back to 2012, the Polish developer was radio silent until 2018 where the game was properly presented. That followed by a few more glimpses, it was not until the following year that the team shared the title would launch in April of this year.
Howbeit, the firm waited half a year before sharing that the game needed more time and pushed its release to September. But despite what many presumed to be a one-time deal, it was still too ambitious for CD Projekt Red and a second delay was issued to Cyberpunk 2077 for a November arrival.
But in efforts to properly solidify that new fall release, CD Projekt Red announced today that Cyberpunk 2077 will definitely be shipping this November by announcing that the game has gone gold. The reveal was made by sharing the news on Twitter.
Looking ahead for the game, the firm still has plenty planned for additional content. That including the downloadable expansions for the game. Spared all the way back in summer last year, CD Project Red pressed that the add-on story content for its coming project would be structured similarly to how expansions were handled for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to give some perspective.
And given that the title is now arriving just after the release of the coming next-generation Xbox Series X & PlayStation 5 consoles, the firm did iterate on the newer versions of Cyberpunk 2077. In that, the team confirmed the versions will be available day one, but the definitive- next-gen experience will not be ready until next year with a dedicated update to come.
