Now, The Alleged Mass Effect Trilogy Will Come Later In Early 2021 With New ‘Legendary Edition’ Titling

For over a handful of months, there has been several reports suggesting that Electronic Arts is priming to launch a trilogy collection for BioWare’s Mass Effect series. The titular entries running from 2007 to 2012, all three would be bundled in on package offering a definitive reworking on the game’s last-gen appearance and revitalizing the performance to meet the standards of current properties.

Most recently, it was disclosed by VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb that the unannounced project is forecasted to be announced in early October and set to hit store shelves by the end of the month. But leading into this month, Grubb stated that the game is now facing a delay resulting with the project being ushered into 2021.

Additionally, he also goes to spare the new titling for the Mass Effect Trilogy, ‘Mass Effect: Legendary Edition’. Grubb explains this to be due to the inferiority of the original Mass Effect during the a recent GamesBeat Decides.

They [BioWare] were planning for an October reveal and then a later October release and that has been pushed back and we can all kinda get why – COVID is happening and they are working remotely. These are challenges everyone is facing, BioWare is not escaping these challenges.

Specifically though, this is Mass Effect 1. Mass Effect 1 was not coming up to the levels of standard to where Mass Effect 2 and 3 are in terms of the bundle, and it was going to bring down the whole package – I think they were worried about that.

Granted, this is an acceptable reason as for why the firm decided best to prolong the project’s announcement to better meet expectations of new guidelines for titles as the industry is on the verge of a new console generation. Even more, it should also be noted the property now entering an early 2021 release could suggest versions for Xbox Series X alongside PlayStation 5 next to its current-generation counterparts.
