Looking ahead for the coming holiday season this year, the question asked most is which console will be topping the charts after Christmas. With two lines of next-generation systems underway – Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 – it is curious as to how the market will react to the available options at hand. But there is not simply the two as we should all acknowledge the record-breaking Nintendo Switch.
Since its inception back in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has proven to be a full-on comeback for the titular company following the disappointing performance of the Wii U. Even more, the amount of software that has been reiterated from its predecessor to the Nintendo Switch alongside unique releases only fueled the success of the ongoing console.
Currently sitting over 60 million units sold since this past August and expected to still be growing, the system is expected to make astronomical numbers coming this Black Friday and tailing holiday season. And according to the NPD Group, the system will even top the approaching next-generation giants shipping in November.
Nintendo Switch will be the best-selling console of holiday 2020 – Switch will also be a hot holiday gifting item with more households picking up multiple Switch consoles in the fourth quarter. The lack of available inventory of new PlayStations and Xbox systems will leave Switch as an appealing available option (although supply may still be difficult to find).

Gathered from the very limited pre-order requests for both Xbox and PlayStation already, the firm anticipates this will play in favor of the Nintendo Switch this holiday. Even more, the appeal of the Nintendo Switch is expected to drastically impact sales of its competitors as consumers will solely intend to purchase the device in the coming weeks.
Reiterating on the withheld amount of units manufactured by Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo is preparing to fill the spots for devices available prematurely. In April and then again in September, Nintendo is reported to urges production to increase well over 120 percent and squeeze out more than 30 million consoles by the year’s end.
From Microsoft, it is projected between its two consoles – Xbox Series S is to be the top seller for the generation. Division head Phil Spencer shares the information with Kotaku that Xbox Series X despite its power advantage will be toppled in sales by the price offered for the entry-leveled system.
