Last week it was revealed that Obsidian Entertainment might be the next product of acquisitions carried out by Microsoft to help bring first part titles to the Xbox platform. Titles developed under the California studio like South Park: The Stick of Truth and Fallout: New Vegas especially is what brought Obsidian to what some might say a cult position.

Fans of the 2010 title have waited to see if the developer would have any plans for the Bethesda franchise any time soon. With the recent possibility of being acquired from Microsoft sparked the chance of seeing a sequel or new title for Fallout from Obsidian.

Looking at how Microsoft already holds tight marketing rights for Fallout 76 with the upcoming B.E.T.A., many went fast to assume the chance of seeing the long awaited title more likely than ever now. But as the magic 8 ball has announced that this is “very doubtful”, any chances for that to happen is slimmer than ever.

On top of getting the 76 beta a week earlier, Xbox Insiders were able to get early hands on the game with the Stress Test for the beta, playing four hours of the anticipated online only title last week.

As of yet, there’s still no word on when or if Obsidian Entertainment is going to be acquired by Microsoft. Though we already know it is in the final stages of the acquisition, changes can occur to keep it from happening when looking back at other instances.
