October 2021 Update For Xbox Welcomes 4K Dashboard, Night Mode, Quick Settings

For newly added features that made its way to Xbox since the launch of the Series X & Series S, Microsoft continues to find new initiatives to further the experience on the newest hardware. Most recently, Microsoft delivered on its promise for Dolby Vision with support for enabled displays on both Xbox Series machines. There are other tools that are still making its way to the service as well at the moment.

In that, Microsoft went out to share in a previous Xbox Insider Skip Ahead update that the dashboard is receiving a 4K upgrade from the high definition (1080p) version available now. It is questionable why it took so long ever since the Xbox One X and PlayStation 5 launching with said support.

On Thursday, official support goes live for all users alongside additional features as well including night mode and quick settings according to the Xbox Wire post.

We’re excited to share that starting today, players with an Xbox Series X connected to a 4K display will see the dashboard natively rendered in 4K. You can experience 4K while browsing the Home, My Games & Apps, Guide, and many other experiences. UI elements on the screen, such as game art and buttons, will have increased sharpness and improved text readability.

“Xbox night mode is a suite of settings that adjusts light sources to help keep rooms dark at night and support gamers who are sensitive to light. You can dim and customize the light from the connected display, the power button on your controller, and the power light on your console,” Hildebrandt continues for the other features.

Notably, quick settings welcomes a flexible suite for users to adjust elements for the system without having to directly navigate through their menu. More specifically, accessibility features are even more apparent for those that require the extra assistance or if you simply decide to disable certain ones.

Elsewhere, Microsoft also went on to fully integrate Chromium for Microsoft Edge previously. Users can now run applications like Discord, Stadia, and Office via Xbox. You can read the full report by heading here.
