When inching closer to the release of the next-generation consoles, specifically the PlayStation 5, fans are noticing the increase in transparency when Sony Interactive Entertainment communicates with its consumers. While games are certainly on the way to the newest iteration of PlayStation, fans are concerned if they can find the same luxuries that Xbox users are receiving from Microsoft.

Elements such as extensive backwards compatibility, cross-gen purchasing, and support for last-gen accessories are just some to name a few. Howbeit in a recent blog post, Sony comes to the surface to share new details on some unanswered questions that have been lingering around for quite a while now. One in particular being how cross-save will work on PlayStation 5.

While the feature is supported to bring player progression over from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, Sony is not handling it. Instead, the firm tells that the responsibility is an option that the developer must decide to incorporate for its respected titles.

Please note that the ability to transfer game saves between a PS4 version and a PS5 version of the same game is a developer decision, and will vary title by title for cross-generational games.

Sony does clarify that while the question is to who will be going the extra mile to support its users, the firm verifies titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Sackboy: A Big Adventure will be available instantly when hitting PlayStation 5 this November. However, it does leave room to suggest that some firm might not decide to which could be worrisome for fans that already injected dozens of hours into certain titles.

Other questionable initiatives that many are still contemplating is how its backwards compatibility program performs. Recently when listing the close dozen of games not supported for the service on PlayStation 5, the firm goes on to tell that some titles might face hiccups and users might want to test games to see if it meets the user’s liking before purchasing DLC.
