Sony Lists Close To A Dozen Games Not Supported For PlayStation 5 Backwards Compatibility

After learning that backwards compatibility will be supported for PlayStation 5 earlier this year, many fans feel dire to learn more about the feature and specifically what games will be added to the mix for the next-generation console. For now, Sony has forecasted that roughly 100 games will be available when the system launches: all being the most popular entries from the PlayStation 4.

The firm went on to promise that the majority of the 4,000+ catalogue of titles will be added later on sometime after the arrival of the PlayStation 5. But for now, prominent releases throughout this generation will be readied for launch. Recently this past month, Sony Interactive Entertainment shared that a library of games will be offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers via the PlayStation Plus Collection – including major first-party and other AAA projects available on the system.

But according to a new post on the PlayStation Support website, Sony clarifies there are some games that will stay unique to PlayStation 4 despite the upcoming backwards compatibility program. Here is the full list of PlayStation 4 unique games:

Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
DWVR
Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
Joe’s Diner
Just Deal With It!
Robinson: The Journey
Shadow Complex Remastered
Shadwen
TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2
We Sing

Reiterating on support for titles that will be playable on PlayStation 5 backwards compatibility, Sony clarifies that some games will face some hiccups when running the feature for PlayStation 4 titles. In that, the firm insist that you verify that you are satisfied with the performance of certain games before deciding to purchase DLC for the respected title.

“Before purchasing add-ons to play with your PS4 games on PS5 consoles, please try to boot and play your PS4 games on your PS5 console to see if you are happy with the play experience,” the statement reads. Even more, some titles are eligible to receive support from the system’s ‘Game Boost’ feature which will also bring better framerates and resolutions, but not all.

On the dawn of the release for the new console, Sony after a lingering claim from an Ubisoft support post suggesting PlayStation 5 will not feature backwards compatibility for PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3, the firm verifies that to be accurate. In an interview, Sony Interactive Entertainment President & CEO Jim Ryan shared that the feature “has not been achieved” for the mentioned systems. You can read the full report by heading here.
