Outriders Reported To Square Enix’s Largest Release With 100K Concurrent Players At Launch

While many were surprised to learn that developer People Can Fly scored a publishing deal for Outriders upon its announcement back at E3 2019, the most uncertainty is the prolonged wait for the title to arrive. Originally scheduled to arrive the following summer, Outriders faced a few delays which picked at the patience of potential fans. After three delays, Outriders finally established a realistic release for April 1st.

Leading up to the game’s debut on two generations of Xbox, PlayStation, and the expected PC release, Microsoft in an abrupt reveal shared that Outriders will also be a debut release on Xbox Game Pass. As the service continues to bring surprises to the table with more users subscribing, it is expected that the game would experience a greater influx in users upon its arrival.

And now following one day since the game’s release, it is discovered that the expectations for the in-game population for Outriders is even greater. In a tweet from industry analyst @BenjiSales, he spares that Outriders welcomed roughly 100,000 concurrent users in the first 24 hours are releasing.

The learning comes to be a well-welcomed statistic in favor of Square Enix over previous release. Namely Marvel’s Avengers, the title did not appeal to the general audience despite the growing faze surrounding the titular Marvel film franchise and resulted in costing the Japanese publisher more than $63 million as of November 2020.

In other details regarding plans for developer People Can Fly, the European game studio has opened a shared-name division in New York and discloses that a new AAA, next-generation title is in development already. You can read the full report by heading here.
