Revealed by developer BioWare, that their upcoming and highly anticipated Anthem will have post-launch story content and they won’t be an additional cost to have.
During the game’s dedicated panel at PAX West, BioWare announced that any added downloadable content for the upcoming title will be completely free. In an effort to keep players together rather than separating them through certain paywalls and content that others might not have purchased. As it was already known that the game will only have cosmetic microtransactions and no Season Pass, this was something almost expected with EA titles as of recently.
Such as games like Battlefield V not having Premium this time around is another example of changes the publisher has been making to appeal more to their audience. Since the outrage from Battlefront II‘s pay-to-win implementation in the game’s multiplayer, microtransactions for the game were pulled temporarily in response from EA. Especially since then, decisions were made to appeal more to those who demanded change for their games.
Looking back at BioWare’s DLC for previous games like Mass Effect, it can almost be expected that the game will get some landmark expansions after the game’s launch. Though we don’t know much about the game’s story as of yet, there is enough that the game’s world can expand onto creating additional side campaigns for post-launch. The developer did not brush upon what we can expect for the DLC whenever that happens.
Anthem is one of the several games we revealed in our exclusive article of titles Microsoft will have marketed for the upcoming year.
Anthem will be available to play on February 22, 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
