Back in March, Japanese developer PlatinumGames announced that despite the shortcoming of backings for the final stretch goal for The Wonderful 101: Remastered on its Kickstarter campaign, the studio collected enough funding to include the Orchestral Recordings for two songs in the game’s soundtrack. Managing to obtain the last milestone to properly rerelease the 2013 title, fans expected to see the game ship this coming May.

And the game is to, digitally. According to a new update post on the game’s Kickstarter, backers who donated to receive physical iterations of the game will have to wait more than a month to receive the respected edition. PlatinumGames slated the initial arrival to take place on May 19 or North America, May 22 for Europe, and June 11 for Japan.

Now, it looks that Japan will not be the last after all which is still mind boggling to see how late the native nation is receiving its respected version of the game. PlatinumGames tells that the impact inflicted by the current virus is taking a toll on shipping physical versions of The Wonderful 101: Remastered.

Unfortunately, due to the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic, we’re expecting  delays in preparing the US and EU physical versions. Backer rewards are being given the highest priority, but due to distribution issues, backers who have chosen physical versions of the game may receive it after general retail release. Our current estimate for the start of shipping rewards is late June. We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.

The team continues further by sharing that backers can expect to receive digital codes for the game this coming Thursday, May 7. That is also to include physical edition backers as well as corroborating digital backings also. The physical version that backers are expecting to arrive later is told to officially ship sometime in the latter of June.

For more context, PlatinumGames tells that the retail version, obviously physical, will be available on June 30th. So around that timeframe roughly backers can expect their tangible version for The Wonderful101: Remastered. European retailers are said to expect sales to go live on July 3rd, but it’s to assume that backers will receive their physical edition in the month prior.

Did you happen to back a physical version for The Wonderful101: Remastered?

The Wonderful 101: Remastered will be launching for Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation 4.
