In early February, Japanese developer PlatinumGames announced that the team will be crowdfunding towards a remastered version for 2013’s The Wonderful 101. Initially a Wii U exclusive, the studio made benchmarks for backers to cumulatively meet to bring the game to reality: within the first day, the criteria was met which unlocked support for Nintendo switch, PC, and PlayStation 4.
However, regarding when those who backed the project can expect to receive the game among the respected tier of rewards are left in the dark as the project is listed to arriving in “Apr 2020.” Luckily in a recent trailer uploaded by PlatinumGames, we now have a confident set of dates for when the title will be releasing.
You can watch the brief trailer in the video below:
Yes, you read that right as I put “dates” in plural. PlatinumGames announced three separate dates for The Wonderful 101: Remastered to release respectively. While not bound to arrive in separate intervals for each platform, this is instead dictated by the region the game will release in. Announcing that the game will arrive in North America on May 19, 2020; Europe on May 22, 2020; and Japan on June 11, 2020.
This comes as a weird turn of events as titles that typically are developed in its home country would expect that project to release there first, this being Japan for this instance. However, as you see it, The Wonderful 101 is launching in Japan last which is obscure to say the least.
The remaster for PlatinumGames’ The Wonderful 101 is the first of four for the studio’s self-publishing initiative, Platinum4. The team also disclosed the second project for the independent pursuit for the team to be Project G.G. A Go-Go!. You can read the full report by heading here.
The Wonderful 101: Remastered is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation 4.
