Although developer Turn 10 Studios typically holds the next installment for the Forza series with a new Forza Motorsport entry following the release of a Forza Horizon entry, that does not appear to be the case. While announcing a new project last year, it is estimated that the new title is not shipping until 2022 at the earliest. And while that is still quite a bit away, players can get their hands on the game prior to release.
In that, Turn 10 Studios disclosed playable builds for the forthcoming release to be available to those part of the Forza Panel program. However, claims for the new Forza Horizon began to emerge online in recent weeks. Previously, industry insiders Jez Corden of Windows Central and Jeff Grubb of GameBeat corroborated on the rumor for the next game to be set in Mexico with a soon reveal for this year.
At the Xbox-Bethesda E3 Showcase, Playground Games unveiled Forza Horizon 5 – confirming the new setting for the title. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
“Forza Horizon 5 showcases powerful, all-new graphical features. Experience sweeping vistas and scan the distance to see the adventure that lies ahead,” Mike Brown, Playground Games’ Creative Director of Forza Horizon explains. “Encounter the smallest of details throughout the world which is rendered with striking realism, down to the smallest details like the light that glows through each needle on a Cholla cactus.
“Our Mexican HDR sky captures illuminate the world to the point that you will feel as if you are right there. And thanks to Xbox Series X|S, ray tracing is utilized in Forzavista to make the cars look even more true to real life.” Additionally, the team also showcases unique weather effects in the region like sandstorms and even rides close to an active volcano which players can explore.
